    Bruce Rabik

    Chief Operating Officer of Acera Insurance

    Insurance executive Bruce Rabik has shaped Canadian insurance for over 35 years. Rabik is the Chief Operating Officer of Acera Insurance, the largest independently owned insurance brokerage in Canada. Rabik has held this position since 2003 when the company was known as Rogers Insurance. In 2022, a merger between Rogers Insurance and CapriCMW formed Acera Insurance.

     

    Rabik was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1985, he graduated from The University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in Business and completed a Masters Degree in Human Resources from Nova Southeastern University. He spent 3 years working as an underwriter for Wellington Insurance where he discovered his passion for the industry. He went on to become a business consultant for Trivest Insurance where he worked with brokerages across the county.

     

    In 2002, Bruce Rabik founded the Canadian Brokers Network (CBN) as a way to support Canada’s remaining independent brokerages. The network began with seven members and over 20 years has become the largest network of independent brokers in Canada. Today, CBN represents over 100 offices and 2000 employees.

     

    As COO of Rogers Insurance, Rabik headed the company’s expansion to markets across Canada including Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia. His expertise and passion for independent employee-owned brokerages has allowed Rabik to create many long-lasting partnerships. In his position, Rabik led his team to win multiple awards, including recognition as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers, and Rogers made the list of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers for multiple years in a row. Rabik has continued to build on his success while managing company operations at Acera Insurance, prioritising initiatives for employee empowerment and company culture.

     

    Rabik is an advocate for mentorship of young professionals. As a mentor, he continues to give many lectures and workshops at industry events and academic institutions on his experience in the industry, as well as advice on risk management, insurance trends and effective leadership. To give back to the community, Rabik has created partnerships between Acera and many different national charities and nonprofits. His philanthropic efforts have included fundraising events, sponsorships and direct donations which have focused on areas such as healthcare, animal welfare and veterans support.
